Trapped in washing machine by mistake • Given two options • “Shock state”
8-year-old cat Max had a dramatic experience when he was accidentally trapped, and washed at 40 degrees, in a washing machine. Miraculously, he survived and quickly recovered from the accident.
– They say he has used up eight of his nine lives, says owner Cassandra Spouse.
The cat Max from Halmstad had to prove that cats really do have nine lives when he was accidentally trapped in a washing machine, a story that P4 Halland was the first to report on. The washing program at 40 degrees was switched on and the fact that Max had jumped into the clothes was not discovered until the program had almost finished.
– I called my partner in a panic and screamed. I ended up in some kind of shock state, Cassandra Makek tells TV4 Nyheterna.
“We were given two options”
It was when the family dog started barking that Cassandra Makek realized something was wrong.
– He barked a lot and then I heard a cat mewing. I didn’t really know what it was coming from so I ran around the house. We have three cats and I found two, quite quickly afterwards I heard that it came from the washing machine, she says.
Cassandra Makek immediately shut down the program, just before the worst spin was about to start. She tells him that Max was alive and watching her, but he couldn’t move.
– It was a straight path to the animal hospital. They gave us two options. Do all they could or let him fall asleep at once. We chose to let them do everything they could, she continues:
– We have had him in the family for eight years, he is a much-loved family member, she says.
The animal hospital: A miracle
The animal hospital describes the whole thing as a miracle. After only a few days, Max had recovered so well that he had to go home again.
– They say it is a miracle and that he has used up eight of his nine lives.
Today, Max is doing well and Cassandra Makek explains that he has not received any buts, neither physical nor psychological.
– He is completely himself now, no injuries or anything. So it’s absolutely fantastic, she concludes.
