The Boys’ triumph has been going on for six years, but it will soon be over. The fifth season, the episodes of which are currently being filmed, is expected to be the last of the Amazon hit. Creator Eric Kripke loves his series. But she has it too forced into a habit which he will be only too happy to give up after the finale.
The Boys maker has to constantly watch the news for the Amazon series
Kripke explained to Forbes:
I was forced to become a news junkie for the series. And I’m really looking forward to not being that when it’s over. I wouldn’t mind turning all that off. I had no choice so far, than to dive deep into it.
The Boys tells the story, in broad strokes, of the fight between a group of angry people led by Butcher (Karl Urban) against supernaturally gifted heroic figures, so-called Supes. These are sinister caricatures of classic comic book superheroes. You meet normal people contempt and cruelty, in places also with an open desire to murder.
In the last few seasons in particular, the Amazon series has increasingly parodied current political events in the Western world. This is what the rise of Supes leader Homelander (Antony Starr) is considered to be in the series satirical reaction to the path of Donald Trump to the US presidency. In order to be able to immediately allude to new political developments, Kripke must regularly keep an eye on the news situation.
When is The Boys season 5 coming to Amazon Prime?
New pictures from the filming of The Boys season 5 have just appeared on the internet. It is not yet clear when exactly the new episodes will be released.
However, we are only starting from one Start date in 2026 because a long post-production phase is to be expected with a series full of effects like The Boys.
