Laura Müller became the first female race engineer in F1 history.
One glass ceiling will be broken in Formula 1 this season, as the sport will finally see a woman as a race engineer. The Haas team has appointed a German by Laura Müller as a race engineer for the team’s new driver To Esteban Oconsaid F1 on Tuesday.
Müller has worked at Haas since 2022, most recently as a performance engineer. Now she will be the first female race engineer in F1 history, and a team boss Ayao Komatsu’s according to Müller, he is just the right person to act as Ocon’s riding partner, who came from Alpine, in the races.
– He is quite a determined guy, and works really hard. And when you think about the personal chemistry, Esteban is also quite determined, so the personalities fit together quite well, Komatsu stated when Haas announced the historic appointment.
– And no, I didn’t choose Laura because she is a woman. We don’t care about nationalities or genders, but about how you fit into the team and how you get the best out of (the team’s) performances. I believe this choice is the right one.
