Marco Rubio, Senator from Florida, will be the new US Secretary of State. He is the first of President Donald Trump’s nominees to be confirmed by the Senate.
The Senate, including the 40-plus Democrats who sit there, voted unanimously to give Rubio the green light.
Rubio is one of the least controversial names Trump has nominated. How it goes for the more circumscribed and talked about Pete Hegseth, whom Trump wants to see as defense minister, is expected to become clear this week.
