Big differences between the roles

A report from the Sheepesports site shows the salaries of the 50 regular players in the European professional league LEC from League of Legends. It becomes clear: the hierarchy of roles in LoL also applies to pay. The top earner in Europe is apparently Caps. The rookies and the supporters get the least.

What kind of data is this?? It’s about the salaries of 50 LEC players who played or will play in summer 2024 and winter 2025. The report comes from the Sheepesports site: They say they have the figures from various sources and that they are accurate to around €20,000.

Sheepesports regularly reports on transfers that happen as they previously reported. The source is therefore considered trustworthy.

The site’s main author, LEC Wooloo, says he is able to get such secret numbers because over the years he has gained the trust of many people who give him confidential data because they know he won’t reveal it .

However, he does not want to reveal the actual salaries of individual players because that could lead to anger and discord within the teams if one knows how much the other earns. An announcement of the exact salaries could also lead to players being specifically criticized for not being worth their money.

Pros in LoL will earn 11% in 2025 than last season

What do players earn on average? The minimum salary according to the rules is €60,000 per year. The average salary is €240,000. That’s a decrease of 11% compared to last season.

The report also says: No LEC player has earned a million euros or more since 2024. Previously, players apparently achieved these salaries.

Rookie players get the least, starting at an average of €115,000. Some veterans then push the average significantly higher. With a salary of €160,000, South Korean legionnaires are significantly cheaper than the average of €240,000. There are 8 South Korean legionnaires playing in Europe.

Who earns the most? As was actually clear beforehand, the top earner is also the man of the region: Rasmus “Caps” Winther, the mid laner from G2. For many years, Caps has been considered the player who single-handedly makes Europe better than the rival league from North America.

Other top earners include:

  • Hans Sama – The ADC of G2
  • Humanoid – Fnatic’s midlaner
  • Larssen – Goue’s midlaner
  • Eloyoya – The jungler of KOI
  • German rules prevent cuts in basic salaries

What is exciting from a German perspective? Apparently teams were unable to reduce professional salaries as much as they would have liked compared to last year because German rules prevented this. But teams probably got around the rule by cutting players’ bonuses and bonuses, but not their base salary.

What about German players? There are 5 Germans in the LEC. But apparently none of them has such a prominent position that they are mentioned by name in the report. The best-paid by name are likely to be BrokenBlade, G2’s top laner, and Upset, Fnatic’s bot laner.

Supporters are also at the bottom in terms of salary, midlaners are at the top

What stands out in particular? Probably the most exciting statistic shows the average salary of the players’ roles. Here is the unofficial hierarchy in a LoL team:

  • The midlaner is still clearly the star of the team and earns an average of €345,000, more than twice as much as the “most thankless” role of the support team
  • Jungle and ADC are in the midfield with €250,000 and €240,000
  • The insulated top planner receives an average of €192,000 – significantly less
  • There are particularly significant savings when it comes to the supporter. There is an average of €168,000 here. This could also be because high-quality supporters are in short supply in Europe
  • It is believed that it is because teams spend so much on their “stars” in the midlane that they often save money on support. In South Korea, however, there are two mid laners who enjoy cult and star status: Keria and BeryL. We’ll introduce you to one of them in an article: 27-year-old is a 2-time world champion in LoL and the kryptonite for T1, but is actually a chill guy who loves Genshin Impact
