The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced the fish that should be consumed in January on its social media accounts. Among the fish that are recommended to be consumed fresh in season, chum, anchovy, blue fish, red snapper and mullet are more delicious when cooked on the stove. Known as the cheapest fish, anchovy is sold for 200-400 lira per kilo in Bursa markets.
Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Department of Food Hygiene and Technology Lecturer Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tayar suggested consuming fish twice a week for healthy generations. Tayar emphasized that fish, which helps the development of the nervous system and brain tissue of children at a young age, reduces depression in adults and reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, listed the benefits of fish as follows:

It reduces the effects of aging and sun, eczema symptoms, and regenerates worn and damaged tissues. It strengthens vision and contributes to nerve development in the retina. It reduces dry eye syndrome.
It reduces the risk of respiratory and flu infections, especially during winter months. It reduces the symptoms of asthma and bronchitis. It contributes to the development and regeneration of muscles and tissues. Chromium reduces the symptoms of ulcer disease. “It helps regulate the digestive system.”
Tayar pointed out that fish bones, head and tail are calcium stores and said, “Health comes from the sea in the winter months. Fish should be a must in the diet for smart and healthy generations. It is one of the foods that every individual, from children to the elderly, must consume.”
