Nigeria joins the BRICS partner countries in the same way, in Africa, as Ethiopia, Algeria and Uganda and, outside Africa, Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia and Thailand. The announcement was made by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a press release, with Brazil currently holding the rotating presidency of the organization.
