Ten years ago, Until Dawn was a great gaming experience for horror fans. The video game was a survival trip in which every decision had an impact on the further course of the story. So there was multiple stories and endingswhich could be unlocked in Until Dawn.

This year a film adaptation of the game is coming to cinemas, which changes the principle of the original slightly. Before the start you can now watch the first trailer.

Horror film Until Dawn: The adaptation is about a time loop of horror

In the film by Lights Out director David F. Sandberg, Clover (Ella Rubin) goes to a remote valley with friends in search of answers a year after her sister’s mysterious disappearance. Here the group is quickly hunted by a masked killer who kills them one by one. However, everyone wakes up again at the beginning of the evening and realizes that they… stuck in a time loop. They can probably only escape if they survive until dawn.

In addition to stars like Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Odessa A’zion and Ji-young Yoo, Peter Stormare is also in the Until Dawn film. Fans of the video game already know the actor as psychiatrist Dr. Hill.

When will the Until Dawn film be released in cinemas?

The horror adaptation runs from April 24, 2025 in German cinemas. The game template first appeared in 2015 for the Playstation 4. A new edition for Playstation 5 and Microsoft Windows was last released in October 2024. It was developed with Unreal Engine 5 and brought, for example, revised graphics, improved character models and a new third-person perspective.
