She has to “beg” people to play with her on Twitch

For Twitch streamer Kalei Renay, being a member of the cool FaZe Clan was a dream. But in 2024 the dream burst. Now the 25-year-old explains what consequences the expulsion has for her.

What kind of streamer is this? Kalei Renay, who appears on Twitch under her first name, mainly shows shooters such as Call of Duty, Apex Legends and, most recently, Marvel Rivals. This made her a good fit for the cool e-sports clan FaZe.

But the clan became increasingly commercial from 2015 onwards. In 2024, the “original members” who had previously sold their shares took back control of the organization and made the decision to return to their origins.

Half of the content creators were unceremoniously thrown out, including Kalei, who was so affected that she burst into tears live on Twitch. Now the streamer reports how the brutal expulsion affected her career.

At the moment Kalei is playing the popular game Marvel Rivals.

“I have no place in gaming anymore”

This is what the streamer says: In a series of posts on It’s just frustrating when I have to beg people to play with me.”

The streamer says it has nothing to do with her skills: she has achieved pretty much every rank in the games she plays. She’s had the problem since 2023, but her expulsion from FaZe made it worse because people can no longer benefit from her.

“It’s just not worth trying to convince myself anymore when the truth is that I don’t really have a place in gaming anymore, and that’s a shame,” sums up the 25-year-old.

A little later she added that she was actually very motivated and had planned a long stream for the day. But after just 5 hours she broke up because she was about to burst into tears.

Why is your situation so difficult? The meta on Twitch is clearly leaning towards collaborations.

This effect was recently evident at MontanaBlack’s big Christmas event, with which the 36-year-old set a new career record. He has been one of the most successful streamers on German Twitch for many years.

Another example is the streamer guild OnlyFangs in World of Warcraft, which almost single-handedly makes the MMORPG one of the most popular games on Twitch at the moment.

Even if Kalei doesn’t want to play with other streamers, but only with gamers from her environment, playing together can create entertaining social interactions that are recorded and shared by viewers as clips.

If you’re a streamer who doesn’t have anyone to play with, you’re missing this element of “bantering”, the friendly back-and-forth, which can be an important factor in the growth of your own channel. Even the head of Twitch himself declared collaborations to be the key to success on Twitch.
