The Scottish startup FreeFlow Technologies has developed an engine for electric bike extremely compact which, placed behind the pedals, is hardly visible. Its associated battery is also intended to be discreet. With such equipment, it becomes difficult to distinguish between a electric bike and a muscle bike.
It may be small, but this engine is no less sturdy since it can reach a nominal power of 250W for a speed maximum of 25 km/h.
The FreeFlow modular system can be combined with a lithium ion battery, with a capacity of 252 or 387 Wh, which can be recharged more than 1000 times. Also very discreet, it is installed along the diagonal tube of the bike. Depending on its diameter, it can even be inserted directly inside the tube. From a distance, difficult to tell the difference with a traditional bike.
It now remains to convince bicycle manufacturers to adopt this solution for their next models. In November 2021, FreeFlow announced that it had reached an agreement with the British manufacturer Twnpa Cycles, which has since tested a prototype bicycle in drink equipped with this system.
