Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan: We will follow the ceasefire in Gaza

Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan met with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ceyhun Bayramov in Baku, where he was on a working visit. After the meetings, Minister Hakan Fidan held a joint press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Bayramov.

Highlights from Minister Fidan’s statements:

“WE WILL FOLLOW THE ceasefire”

We are pleased with the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel. We support initiatives aimed at just and lasting peace. In the next period, we will follow up on making the ceasefire permanent and delivering aid to Gaza. It is extremely important for us that the massacre and destruction that has been going on for 15 months stops. The indiscriminate killing of civilians, children and journalists caused all human values to be destroyed. We hope that the ceasefire will continue from now on. Humanitarian aid is allowed to be delivered throughout Gaza. It is important for 2 million people to return to suitable conditions. I hope this tear will be the last tear. We will quickly implement the two-state solution and ensure normalization. It is clear that security cannot be provided for both Israel and Palestine unless the two-state solution that some people want is realized.

“WE STANDED BY AZERBAIJAN”

Coming to Azerbaijan is a source of happiness for me. We feel at home. In difficult times, Türkiye stood by Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan stood by Turkey. From now on, we will continue our path as brothers. You can only walk the most difficult paths with your siblings. In this context, we stood by Azerbaijan during the Karabakh War. We always stood by each other with all our strength. Our partnership is independent of time, it is a unity of destiny. From now on, we will continue to share our destiny.

“COMMON STANCE IN THE FIELD OF TRANSPORTATION IS IMPORTANT”

It is important that we maintain our common stance in the field of energy and transportation. We are thinking of strengthening the connectivity between our countries. Increasing the capacity of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line from 1 million tons to 15 million tons and increasing the capacity of the Baku Sea Port increases the potential of the Central Corridor. We want to implement the Kars-Nakhchivan railway project as soon as possible.

“PEACE IN THE SOUTH CAUCASUS IS IN THE BENEFIT OF EVERYONE”

During today’s meeting, we also exchanged views on international developments. The agreement on delimitation of borders between Azerbaijan and Armenia is an important step. Peace in the South Caucasus is for the benefit of everyone.

“STRONG Türkiye IS STRONG AZERBAIJAN”

We will provide our support in reactivating Azerbaijan’s embassy in Damascus. Türkiye-Azerbaijan brotherhood supports regional peace. Strong Azerbaijan is strong Turkey. Strong Türkiye is strong Azerbaijan.
