Four years ago released Leif GW Persson wine last. But now he has done it again and this time he releases a red wine. The wine is organic and made from 100 percent primitivo from Apulia, Italy.
GW’s Italienare is described as a full-bodied and spicy wine with soft tannins and notes of dark berries such as blackberry and plum with hints of fresh herbs and a hint of vanilla.
– I have long been happy to be able to offer affordable and tasty wines from Portugal. But now, after four years, finally being able to do the same from the Swedes’ favorite region of Italy makes me very proud. Especially since it is a very good, versatile and well-priced wine, says Leif GW in one press release.

GW’s Italians – new red wine
The idea with the wine is that it should go well with minced meat sauce and spaghetti and a simpler cheese and charcuterie tray, but also as a simpler companion wine. GW’s Italienare can be bought in Systembolaget’s order range from January 10.
News24‘s tasting panel has tried the wine and evaluated it. It is a single jury that assigns grades. The wine is simple, easy to drink and a little weak, but definitely an okay everyday wine for its 99 kroner.
– Finally GW makes it to my favorite country Italy. A perfect everyday wine to drink while preparing your bolognese on a Wednesday evening. Nice acidity and fruity taste. SEK 99 is good value, says one on the panel, and several agree.
– An incredibly easy-drinking red wine with a fruity and good taste. A cut for 99 kroner.

A wine for the simpler event
The panel is unanimous when it comes to the fact that for SEK 99 a bottle, you are still quite satisfied, but that it is a wine for the simpler events.
– An affordable house wine that fulfills its function for the price tag. A bit rough, which I like, but I would have liked a bit more fullness and character where more notes than sweetness emerge.
– There is nothing wrong with this wine, but it is also nothing I will commit to memory and reach for at Systembolaget. Fruity, easy drinking and…. A bit bland?
Rating: 3/5
