The agreement will enter into force on Sunday, January 19. 33 Israeli prisoners will be released in the first 42 days of the ceasefire agreement, which will consist of 3 stages.
The agreement includes comprehensive delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, as well as the return of displaced Palestinians to their areas.
Details of the second and third phases will be announced upon completion of the first phase.
In Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, 46 thousand 788 Palestinians, including approximately 17 thousand 841 children and 12 thousand 298 women, died and 110 thousand 453 people were injured.
WHAT HAPPENED?
A ceasefire agreement was reached on January 15 in indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas, mediated by the USA, Qatar and Egypt. Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman Al-Thani officially announced that a ceasefire agreement had been reached in the Gaza Strip and stated that the ceasefire would begin on January 19. However, in the statement made yesterday by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, it was claimed that Hamas had given up on some articles of the ceasefire agreement, and it was announced that the meeting at which the Israeli cabinet would approve the agreement was postponed. Hamas announced that it was committed to the agreement, and all eyes turned to Israel again.
