UK December retail sales worse than expected

(Finance) – Retail sales in the United Kingdom are slowing. According to theOffice for National Statisticsretail sales fell by 0.3% on a monthly basis in December, after the +0.1% recorded in November and the +0.4% estimated by the consensus.

On an annual basis there was a positive change of 3.6%, also in this case below expectations (+4.2%) and after the zero change in November.

The core retail sales, which exclude fuel, they fell by 0.6% on the month, (+0.1% expected) after the +0.1% of the previous month. On a yearly basis, the core figure recorded +2.9% compared to the previous -0.5% (-0.5% expected).
