It was on December 25 last year that “Wolf Summer” premiered on TV4 Play Plus. Two weeks later, the thriller drama began to be shown linearly on TV4.

IN a press release before the premiere, the channel presented the plot of the TV series, which is based on Hans Rosenfeldt novel of the same name:

“The series follows Haparanda police officer Hannah Wester, who makes a macabre discovery after a dead wolf is found with human remains in its stomach. The case can be connected to a bloody drug deal on the other side of the border in Finland. At the same time, the odd couple Sandra and Kenneth happen to collide with a car which turns out to contain a murdered man and three valuable bags that could mean a chance at a new life. What Hannah and the others don’t know is that professional killer Kat is on her way Haparanda to find the missing bags. It triggers a brutal spiral of violence in the small town that turns out to have connections to Hannah’s dark past.”

For Aftonbladet, Melander told about the situation in the series and how, with her own losses, she learned to portray sadness.

– Because there is no dead body, no funeral, no therapeutic conversations about grief, it is unredeemed in them. Their relationship has kind of become frozen, she says and continues to tell about the sadness she herself experienced:

– In connection with my mother becoming ill and dying. In connection with the miscarriages. For maybe three, four years I felt like a soldier. You can grieve for a little while, then you have to get up, hope must not die.

But what really made Eva Melander, who previously played a police officer in “Rebecka Martinsson”, want to do the role in “Vargasommar”?

– What was attractive about the role itself is that Hannah is a middle-aged woman who lacks prestige and is not up to speed, but that there is no explanation for that. Otherwise, it is usually explained with some diagnosis. Then she has a trauma that she struggles with. And I liked the setting, that Ganslandt refers to the brothers Cohen and “No country for old men”. That Hannah was another police officer in Norrbotten, I didn’t even think about that, she says The evening paper.
