A 48-year-old Norfolk County man has been charged with break and enter and theft under $5,000 following an investigation into a break-in at Norfolk General Hospital.

Norfolk County OPP were sent to the hospital at about 3:17 am Wednesday to investigate a break and enter in progress. Officers determined that two individuals had targeted an outbuilding and had attempted to steal various items.

Police found and arrested one suspect on Elgin Avenue in Simcoe while the second, described as wearing a multi-colored bomber-style jacket, fled the scene on foot.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Feb. 18.

Robbery in Tillsonburg

Oxford County OPP is investigating a Jan. 14 robbery at a Tillsonburg business.

Police say an individual entered the business on Broadway Street at about 9 pm and, using force, stole men’s cologne worth about $900.

The suspect is described as a white male, between 18 and 25 years of age, about 6-feet in height and weighing about 160 pounds. He has dirty blonde hair, minimal facial hair and was wearing a black jacket, black pants and a red hat at the time of the incident, said police.

Police say the suspect left the parking lot in a white Honda sedan.

No injuries were reported.

Mischief charge after incident at NGH

Norfolk County OPP has charged a 46-year-old Oxford County woman following a Jan. 14 incident at Norfolk General Hospital on West Street in Simcoe.

Police were dispatched to the hospital around 11:40 am to investigate a trespassing complaint.

Upon arrival, police discovered an individual had refused to leave the premises after being direct to do so by hospital staff.

Officers found the individual on the hospital premises and during an interaction with the officers, the person damaged an OPP vehicle, said police.

A suspect was taken into custody and subsequently charged with mischief.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Feb. 25.

Impaired driving

Haldimand County OPP charged a 44-year-old woman from Ohsweken with drinking and driving charges.

Provincial police stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 6 north of Caledonia at about 2:45 am on Jan. 15.

The driver was subsequently charged with impaired driving, driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood, driving with liquor readily available and speeding.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on Feb. 25.
