Director Fede Álvarez announced that he wanted to take the characters we know from the first movie of the series to a new and unexplored adventure. Although there is no official confirmation yet, Álvarez and screenwriter Rodo Sayagues announced that they have started working on the story.
Fede Álvarez’s Alien: Romulus 2 Update
In his interview with Empire Magazine, Fede Álvarez emphasized that Alien: Romulus 2 should not be just a commercial sequel. “We could make a sequel thanks to the success of Romulus, but I wouldn’t want to do it just because it’s possible. “The story really needs to deserve that name,” he said.
In the new movie, Álvarez and his team want to take fans of the series to places they have never seen before. Planning to expand the themes used in the first film, Álvarez said, “Now we can sail into completely uncharted waters,” and stated that he aims to offer an innovative experience to the audience.
Released in 2024, Alien: Romulus told a story that took place between Ridley Scott’s Alien and James Cameron’s Aliens films. The film received positive response from both critics and audiences, increasing expectations for the sequel.
20th Century Studios President Steve Asbell said in a statement last year that ideas for the sequel to Alien: Romulus were being evaluated. Álvarez, on the other hand, does not want to rush the story and points out the importance of finding the right story.
