Ice hockey: Lucas Elvenes’ successful comeback in Leksand: Involved in all five goals in the victory match against Örebro

Lucas Elvenes picked up an old injury in Leksand’s victory match against Rögle on 28 December.

After that, he has been missing in the team’s last five games, but was back in the lineup this evening, when Leksand took on Örebro.

Elvenes set 4–1

How did it go?

To say the least, good. Elvenes scored the 4–1 goal themselves, which many thought was the match-deciding one, 41 seconds into the final period.

Örebro came closer

Before that, he had played up to the team’s first three goals, and just over five minutes later, he fitted nicely to Joonas Lyytinen’s 5–1 goal.

– Everything flowed. I felt right from the first period that most things work today. Nice to get a match like that when you’re back, says Elvenes to TV4 Play.

At 5–1, the match looked completely decided. But Örebro reduced both once, twice and three times, so with six minutes left to play, Leksand’s lead was suddenly only one goal.

Fifth consecutive Örebro loss

But Örebro didn’t get closer than 4–5, and Leksand won the match and climbs up to ninth place in the table. For Örebro, it was the fifth straight loss and the team is now below the quarter-final mark.

– We play ourselves away from the start, says Örebro’s coach Niklas Eriksson to TV4 Play.

“Cross on the roof”

In addition to the victory, Leksand can be happy that their ten-game goal drought in numerical superiority was broken. With only four tenths of the first period left, Kalle Östman made it 1-0 with one more man on the ice.

– Cross in the roof, he exclaimed in TV4 Play, referring to the team scoring in the power play.

Another goal in the match, Elvene’s 4–1 goal, was scored on the power play.
