The United States announced sanctions on Thursday, January 16, against the head of the Sudanese army, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, a few days after taking a similar measure against the leader of the paramilitaries, recognizing their powerlessness to end the conflict which is ravaging this East African country. The Sudanese government denounces American sanctions, deeming them “immoral”.
