First obstacle for François Bayrou and his government. The Prime Minister faces the filing of a motion of censure this Thursday, January 16. The text, initiated by the La France insoumise group in the National Assembly, will also be voted on by environmentalist and communist deputies. Also a member of the New Popular Front, the Socialist Party indicated for its part that it would not vote on the motion of censure, after a meeting of its national office at midday.
There therefore remains little suspense over the outcome of the election, since the National Rally, like the Republicans, earlier indicated their desire not to bring down this new government, appointed on December 23. The previous tenant of Matignon, Michel Barnier, had to resign after the vote on a previous motion of censure in early December, only three months after his appointment to his position.

Manuel Bompard predicts the fall of this “unfortunate government” and the “monarch” Macron
The coordinator of La France insoumise Manuel Bompard predicted the fall of the “unhappy government” of François Bayrou, as well as that of the “monarch” Emmanuel Macron, in his motion of censure speech to the Assembly. “Mr. Prime Minister, the days of your unlucky government are numbered. When it falls, the monarch will follow,” he said, assuring that the reasons for censorship were “numerous. He took the opportunity to castigate “the “irresponsibility” of those who want to “wait a few more days or a few weeks” to speak out, in a dig at the socialists, who have just announced that they would not vote for censorship this Thursday.

Socialist deputies will not vote to censure the Bayrou government
PS deputies will not vote this afternoon to censure François Bayrou’s government, the party’s national office has decided after heated debates, according to one of the participants.
Very divided for two days on the possibility of voting on the motion of censure tabled by La France insoumise, Ecologists and communists after François Bayrou’s general policy speech, the PS does not rule out voting for the next censure during the budget, and will reiterate its “requirements” in this area as part of its negotiations with the government.

François Bayrou makes several concessions to the PS
Prime Minister François Bayrou announced that he would make several concessions to the Socialists, in a letter addressed to representatives of the PS this Thursday. In this text, he confirms the abandonment of the project to extend the waiting period, which was to increase from one to three days for public sector agents in the event of sick leave, as desired by the socialist elected officials. Another request from the PS accepted by the Prime Minister, according to this letter: the “maintenance” in the finance bill for 2025 of the “differential contribution on high incomes”.

The National Rally and the Republicans will not vote for censorship
Several groups have already clarified that they will not vote for this new motion of censure, one month after the one which brought down Michel Barnier’s government on December 4. The 124 elected representatives of the National Rally at the Palais Bourbon should not support this text, according to party representatives. “In general, we do not vote for censure after the general policy speech. We await the actions”, launched Tuesday, after François Bayrou’s speech to parliamentarians, the vice-president of the RN, Sébastien Chenu.
As for the Republicans, several of whom are part of the government, they should not give their votes to this motion either. “We will not vote for censorship, but we will judge text by text whether the directions taken are consistent with the interest of the country”, with this in mind, underlined the boss of LR deputies, Laurent Wauquiez, on Tuesday, in reaction to the taking of words of François Bayrou.
