Norwegian biathlete Vebjörn Sörum reached the podium for the first time in his career on Wednesday in Ruhpolding.
He took his first Biathlon World Cup win in his career on Wednesday’s normal course in Ruhpolding Vebjörn Sörum use robust means to avoid dust and bacteria.
Before the winning competition, Sörum, 26, posted a video on his social media channel in which he lines his hotel room with plastic and replaces the blanket with his personal weighted blanket.
– It takes some time, but we hardly do anything else but lie on the bed. It’s good to play a bit of tetris when trying to cover the floor with plastic as efficiently as possible, Sörum told NRK about his procedure.
By covering the hotel carpet, Sörum aims to reduce the entry of bacteria, dust and dirt into his lungs. Sörum, who is allergic to pollen, almost always takes plastic and tape with him on trips to competitions.
– I like to take everything into account and be in control of even small things that can improve my performance. It comes naturally to me.

– We tend to have bad luck, so we do a lot of strange things to avoid it. Looks like the tape worked for Vebjørn in this situation, from the Norwegians Tarjei Bö stated referring to Sörum’s normal distance win.
There has been avoidance of carpets in sports circles in the past as well. Sörum’s compatriot Sturla Holm Lägreid tells Be with Einar Björndalen had an impact on the matter. In Ruhpolding, Lägreid stays in a room without carpet.
– Björndalen was our role model and taught us that it is good to tape a carpet if there is one in the room. If the coaches know we’re going to stay in a place with carpet, they’ll get there early and fix it up.
