Renewable sources, Intesa Sanpaolo and SACE together

Renewable sources Intesa Sanpaolo and SACE together

(Finance) – Intesa Sanpaolo llaunches a new initiative to support business investments in electricity production projects from renewable sources, with particular attention to photovoltaic and wind power. Thanks to the collaboration with SACE it will be possible to obtain financing for initiatives structured in project financing of up to 50 million euros.

The agreement, which complements the existing agreement for the use of the SACE Green guarantee in favor of operating companies, it will allow the promotion of project financing investment formulas, with coverage by SACE of up to 50% of the financed amount. The new guarantee scheme, which provides for loans of up to 50 million and a duration of up to 20 years, will allow a simplified and fast approval process thanks to the preliminary sharing of the loan structuring conditions between Intesa Sanpaolo and SACE and will offer the possibility of a simplified investigation for amounts less than 15 million.

This synergistic model – explains the note – is based on Intesa Sanpaolo’s historical experience in the energy sector, thanks also to the presence of a dedicated Energy Desk within the Banca dei Territori Division led by Stefano Barrese, made up of specialized engineers and evaluators , which over the years has allowed us to support companies in investments related to the energy transition, in line with the facilities and incentives gradually available. Furthermore, for projects with greater complexity and size, the collaboration benefits from the experience gained in the specific project finance segment by the Desks of the IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division.

Encourage investments in energy from renewable sources and contribute cso the energy autonomy of companies and the country is a priority. The National Integrated Plan for Energy and Climate (PNIEC) sets challenging objectives in terms of energy transition: by 2030, 64% of national electricity demand will have to be covered by renewable sources, compared to the current 43%. The production of energy from renewable sources will benefit from important incentives which will guarantee satisfactory levels of economic profitability for investors and adequate levels of financial sustainability for the banking system thanks to the stability of cash flows over time. In the period 2025-2028, approximately 50 billion in new investments are estimated, thanks to the support measures still in force and the incentive measures of the soon-to-be-released decree called FERX.

Furthermore, there are many measures of the PNRR linked to the energy transition, in which Intesa Sanpaolo is active thanks to the “Your future is our business” program with financing to support growth along the lines defined by the PNRR. Precisely in continuity with the measures implemented to date, the collaboration with SACE should be seen, which is enriched with a new tool that will allow project companies, created to develop and build new plants for the production of renewable energy from photovoltaic and wind sources, to be able to access credit more easily.

Anna Roscio, Head of Corporate Sales & Marketing at Banca dei Territori of Intesa Sanpaolo: “Together with SACE we want to contribute to the energy transition of even small businesses. Intesa Sanpaolo is the reference operator for SMEs who decide to invest in green plants, and who are increasingly aware of the benefits, also for their success, of investments in environmental, social and governance sustainability. To this end, since 2020 we have provided approximately 8 billion euros in financing for a total of 4,680 transactions to corporate customers”.

“We are happy to be alongside Intesa Sanpaolo to concretely support and facilitate business investments in green energy. The innovation on project financing is part of an innovative and customer-centric path of simplification of processes and digitalisation of products which aims to eliminate the times for issuing guarantees”, he declared Daniela CataudellaHead of Dynamic Business Solutions at SACE.
