The Pokémon GO Tour 2025 brings a free reward pass, but those who pay get better rewards

Pokémon GO is bringing a reward pass to the next major event, very similar to what games like Fortnite have. There is a free and a paid version. We’ll show you the information known so far.

Pokémon GO has introduced the new “Tour Pass” and the “Tour Pass Deluxe”. It appears on the occasion of the big GO Tour 2025 event, but brings rewards beforehand.

When does the tour pass expire? With the Tour Pass or Tour Pass Deluxe you can collect rewards by making progress in the game between February 24th, 10:00 a.m. and March 2nd, 2025.

How much does the tour pass cost? There are two variants.

  • The regular tour pass is free
  • The Tour Pass Deluxe costs $14.99 (probably similar in euros)

    What do the Pokémon GO Tour Pass and Tour Pass Deluxe bring?

    How does the Tour Pass work? You should earn tour points in the game, which you can use to unlock additional reward levels in the pass. Among other things, there are points for catching monsters, raids, and hatching eggs. Larger amounts of points can be obtained through “pass tasks” that should appear in the event. There should be new tasks every day. There will also be new tasks every hour during the actual global tour weekend.

    All trainers will automatically receive the free version on Monday, February 24th at 10:00 a.m. All rewards will expire on March 9th at 6:00 p.m. if not claimed beforehand.

    What kind of rewards are there? According to the announcement, these are things like Pokémon encounters, candies, balls as well as stickers, avatar items and a special Pokémon encounter at certain milestones. There you meet Zorua with a special background. In addition, the catch XP bonus increases at major milestones. This way you can first unlock 1.5x, then double and finally triple the catch XP bonus. This applies to both versions.

    Special features of the Tour Pass Deluxe: The paid pass promises faster, better rewards and also has two special features that are not available in the normal pass.

  • The lucky trick: This is the final reward of the pass. This item gives you one chance to turn one of your friends into a Lucky Friend. This means that the next time you trade with each other, you will receive a lucky Pokémon. But be careful, the lucky gimmick will also expire on March 9th at 6:00 p.m. – even if you have picked it up. So it has to be used until then.
  • Victini: The Deluxe Pass also includes an encounter with the mysterious Pokémon Victini. This was most recently discovered in special research from 2020.

    • Overall, the Tour Pass is reminiscent of the classic Battle Pass system that many games follow today.
