The James Bond series has taken the most famous spy in film history to the most exotic locations in the world. At one point, however, the series got so crazy that the secret agent even ended up in outer space. We’re talking about James Bond 007 – Moonraker – Top Secret, with which the Bond franchise based on the sci-fi hits of the time wanted. For many people, the 007 part that airs on VOX on Thursday is silly science fiction trash these days.
Who knows what Moonraker would have looked like if Steven Spielberg had directed the film? At that time he wanted to get behind the camera for the Bond franchise, but nothing came of it.
Steven Spielberg wasn’t allowed to make Bond
According to the Independent, the director spoke on the BBC Radio 2 show about how he spoke to Bond producer Albert R. Broccoli on the phone twice at the time. After the great success of Jaws, he hoped that he would be able to express himself creatively completely freely. However, Broccoli had to disappoint Spielberg by telling him he wasn’t the right choice to direct Bond.
