In an initial interrogation with the police, the man begins by saying that he is very lonely and that many weeks go by without him having contact with anyone, apart from the cashier at Ica.
The 65-year-old says that he tried to meet someone on the dating app Badoo and received a response from a “Marie”, who stated that she was 18 years old.
They both quickly decided to meet at a car park in Karlskrona and at 04:00 he was there. He drove down to the place with his newly bought van, stood outside it and waited for “Marie”. A young woman arrived, the 65-year-old estimates her age to be 25, and they both got into the car.
Tried to escape in panic
A minute later, two young men appeared, pushed their way into the vehicle and began beating the 65-year-old with their fists. He tells of how he panicked and tried to drive away but only got 75 meters. The trio forced codes to the man’s mobile phone and made him transfer 25,000 kroner to one of the man’s accounts. They then took the 65-year-old’s passport and mobile phone.
The trio forced the man to also record a video which they threatened to spread on the site “Dumpen” if he went to the police.
The police preliminary investigation reveals what the 65-year-old was forced to say:
“Can you say hello, I’m a pedophile”
“Hi, I wanted to meet an 18-year-old girl. It was bloody stupid”
“Can someone please just give him a slap so he can say that he..”
“Damn stupid of me but hey I’m a pedophile then”
“Do you want another bang or what?” Say it again, say it again”
“Hi, I’m a pedophile”
The horror and the shame
In police interrogation, the man describes how he felt when the blackmail was going on.
– Angry and sad and disappointed. How could I be so stupid?
Police: Did you feel scared?
– Yes, that’s clear. When they say “now you behave nicely here, we won’t kill you”. I think it’s best to do as they say. After all, money is just money.
After the beating, the robbery, the extortion and the humiliating filming, the trio took the man’s car keys, threw him into the boot of his own van and drove him to the train station in Karlskrona, where they left him without any belongings.
The trio are now sentenced to five years in prison each for robbery and kidnapping. The perpetrators must also pay greater damages to the 65-year-old man.
