Avatar 3 reveals images of two entirely new Navi tribes

After two films, we have only seen a fraction of the fascinating world of Pandora. This was already hinted at last year when a whole bunch of beautiful concept art for Avatar: Fire and Ash was revealed at D23. Now there is another insight into the elaborate sci-fi blockbuster.

Empire was able to exclusively secure two additional concept art that introduce us to the two new Na’vi tribes. In part 3 of James Cameron’s billion-dollar sci-fi saga, we learn Ash clan and the Wind Traders know. Both Na’vi peoples have not yet appeared in any of the Avatar films that have been released in cinemas.

Avatar 3: New images show the leader of the Ash Clan and the Wind Traders in the sci-fi sequel

The first image introduces us to the Ash Clan and its fearsome leader: Varang. She is played by Oona Chaplin, who starred as Talisa Maegyr in the HBO series Game of Thrones. She is also part of the cast of The Crimson Field and Taboo. Now she is diving into the fiery part of Pandora.

In an interview with Empire, Cameron provides concrete details about the new character:

Varang is the leader of a people who have experienced incredible hardship. She has become hardened by this. She would do anything for [ihren Stamm] do, even things, that we would view as evil. One thing we wanted to achieve in this film is that it’s not black and white and simple. […] We’re trying to move beyond the ‘all humans are evil, all Na’vi are good’ paradigm.

The second image focuses on the Wind Traders. They move through the skies of Pandora in huge ships. But we don’t yet know who leads the tribe.

Nevertheless, Cameron also teases a few exciting details here:

[Die Wind Traders] are nomadic traders, comparable to the camel caravans on the spice route in the Middle Ages. […] Like all Na’vi, they live in symbiosis with their creatures. If you have nautical blood in your veins, you will be on [ihrem] want to be a ship.

We don’t yet know how exactly the new tribes fit into the plot of the film. Cameron’s plan to use the Ash Clan to shake up the balance of power on Pandora and blur the line between good and evil still sounds promising.
