Many people think that all elite athletes only have sport on their mind all the time.
This is not the case with everyone, for example not with Calle Halfvarsson who reveals that he has a favorite interest.
– It’s quite fun and exciting, he says to Sportbibeln.
As an elite athlete, there is a lot of downtime and waiting between training, competitions and various camps. Then it is important to find things that allow you to pass the time and relax. All athletes have their ways and tricks to entertain themselves.
That’s what the skiers do between races
Ebba Andersson talked about this with Expressen during the time when the Tour de Ski was going on at the turn of the year. She then shared her tips and tricks.
– We were reminded of that (by the leaders). When should we be on? And when will we be off? It is important to think about, in order to be able to cope with an entire tour. Sure, it’s physically demanding. But that’s what we’re trained for. However, the head is not good at being so intense for a short period, she said and continued:
– I spend a lot of time with my teammates. It gives me a lot of energy.

She carried a coloring book, a yatzy game and a reading tablet in her pack to pass the time between races. However, the disc was not included because she wanted to watch movies.
– No, not film. I’m a little too impatient for that. But series works! I can handle about 45 minutes, if it’s longer than that it will be a bit too energy demanding, she said.
Another Swedish cross-country skier who is experienced and knows what applies at training camps is Calle Halfvarsson35. He tells Sportbibeln that he often has a newspaper or something else to read during the meetings. But it is not about any works of fiction. Often the reading is about the same topics.

Calle reveals that he has a burning interest in science. Something that most people probably missed.
– Right now, I have snowed in on “Vetenskapen värld” on SVT. Sitting and watching it. Those are the programs I like. I am interested in science and often buy Illustrated Science (magazine), it is quite fun and exciting to read about everything possible. When traveling it is good. If I go into a newspaper shop, I usually end up coming out with it or a car magazine. Or a sports magazine, he says.
Nice of you to share, Calle. Good luck with the riding in the World Cup and during the WC. We cheer for you and the other Swedes!
