we know what the new Na’vi peoples will look like, the first images revealed

The return to Pandora is imminent. Expected for the end of the year, Avatar 3 finally revealed the first images in the columns of the British magazine Empire…or rather first concept arts (by Dylan Cole Art, head production designer of the franchise). These feature Na’Vi peoples that the public will be able to discover in this new episode. In this sequel, Jake, Neytiri and the rest of their family embark on new adventures that will lead them to discover new cultures. But everything might not go as smoothly as it did in the second movie, when they discovered the Metakyina people.

In Avatar 3the audience will meet the people of Ash, led by the terrifying Varang (played by Oona Chaplin, below). “Her people went through difficult ordeals, and she was hardened by that,” confides James Cameron to the English-speaking magazine. “She is ready to do anything for them, even to do things that could be considered bad.” The director thus promises that this second episode should offer a more nuanced and less Manichean vision of the Na’Vi people.

The people of Ashes will not be the only ones we will discover in Avatar 3. This new episode, scheduled for the end of 2025, will also introduce Wind Traders (original version, below). This people of nomadic traders has the particularity of traveling by air. “These are the equivalent of the camel caravans of the spice route in the Middle Ages,” explains James Cameron to Empire.

James Cameron gave news of the franchise on February 4, 2024, during the Saturn Awards. The director said that a few additional scenes were going to be filmed this year, but was very reassuring about the progress of the film: “Avatar 3 is almost in the can. We still have a few shots to film but that only represents the last 2 or 3% of the film, and in June we will shoot live-action shots to complete the whole thing. We also shot a quarter of Avatar 4”. Post-production is also well advanced, according to the filmmaker.

For now, Avatar 3 is still scheduled for a cinema release on December 17, 2025. “We are working on the visual effects, which is a huge job. I’m going to need every second between now and release day to complete this film,” he said. he concluded.

There will therefore be no need to wait ten years between the second and third parts, as was the case between Avatar And Avatar: The Way of Waterhit of the year 2022. The fourth film Avatar must now be released on December 19, 2029. As for the fifth episode, the wait will be even longer, since you will have to wait until December 17, 2031 before seeing it in theaters.
