Russia has intended to carry out sabotage against air traffic worldwide, according to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
He accuses the Kremlin of having attempted sabotage in Poland and other countries.
– All I can say – and I will not go into details, but I can confirm the validity of these concerns – is that Russia has planned acts of aviation terrorism and not only against Poland but against airlines worldwide, Tusk says, in connection with his meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in Warsaw.
In several incidents last year, shipments sent via Poland, the UK and Germany caught fire at airports or in warehouses. Anonymous information coming from intelligence services made it clear that the suspicions were directed at Russia.
Information in the American media claimed last autumn that the US authorities had revealed Russian plans for an air sabotage aimed at the US. According to The New York Times sources, the smaller packages that caught fire at airports in Europe were only test balloons for a larger attack in which an explosive device could be placed on a passenger plane.
According to the newspaper, the US government then issued a sharp warning to Russia.
