Hailed by critics and the public, this demanding and intelligent television series finally returns for a season 2. This is the event not to be missed in streaming this week.
How do you recognize a great series? From the gripping plot to the impeccable interpretation, including the staging or the ability to keep you in suspense over time, everyone has their own criteria. One of them could be the fact that critics and audiences unanimously praise it. This is the case of this series, which has won over subscribers, but also the specialized press. After the success of its first season, it finally returns for a sequel this week.
Severance is a dystopia that takes place in the professional environment. In detail, she tells how the company Lumon Industries uses a program to separate the professional memories and the private memories of their employees. A chip in their brain allows them to dissociate the private and professional sphere: when they leave work, they no longer have any memory of their life in the company, and vice versa. But this technological advance does not only have advantages for employees, quite the contrary.
Difficult to say more so as not to spoil the pleasure of spectators who would like to discover the first season of Severance before the release of the sequel. But the public who wishes to discover it will recognize familiar faces in the casting, like Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation), Zach Cherry (You), Britt Lower (Unforgettable), John Turturro (The Big Lebowski), Christopher Walken (Journey to the End of Hell, Pulp Fiction…), or Patricia Arquette (Boyhood, Medium).
At the end of its first season, Severance was unanimously acclaimed by critics and the public. For example, it scores 97% positive reviews from the press on Rotten Tomatoes (88% from the public). In France too, the series found its audience: spectators gave it a rating of 4.4/5 on Allociné (4/5 for the press).
The first episode of Severance aired almost three years ago on February 18, 2022. Due to the writers’ and actors’ strike, season 2 was ultimately delayed. But the science fiction series directed by Ben Stiller finally returns to the screens on January 17, 2025. A boon for fans who are impatiently awaiting the sequel. To discover these new episodes, however, you need a subscription to Apple TV+. Remember that the Apple firm’s programs are also accessible to all Canal+ subscribers, via its MyCanal streaming platform.
