Cuba has said it will release 553 prisoners as part of an agreement with the United States. The US, on the other hand, will remove Cuba from the list of countries that support terrorism, the president Joe Biden the administration said.
The United States also eases economic sanctions on Cuba and revokes the presidency Donald Trump’s strict guidelines from this previous presidency.
The Catholic Church helped create the agreement.
The improvement will be short-lived. The Trump administration, which starts next week, is expected to tighten the US policy towards Cuba. The future foreign minister Marco Rubio has sharply criticized the communist regime in Cuba. Rubio’s parents are from Cuba.
