Kalmar’s super streak broken – Södertälje climbs after a win

Kalmar has climbed the table after seven straight victories. The team is in fifth place and has entered the battle for the top spot. On Tuesday, the Småland team faced Södertälje.

It was an even match in which the home team Kalmar took the lead, through Veikko Loimaranta.

But then Södertälje turned around, with goals by Nicolai Meyer in the second period and by Nolan Stevens in the third period.

The match ended 1-2 to Södertälje.

– Two good teams out there, with a lot of chances back and forth. At times they are better than us, but in the third period we take over. Then it’s a sloppy sending off that they unfortunately score on, says Kalmar’s Carl-Johan Lerby after the match, and refers to when the team incurred a team penalty for six men on the ice.

– A solid effort over sixty minutes, we play good hockey and I think we deserve to win the game. We are stable all over the court, says Södertälje’s Egor Polin, who assisted Steven’s lead goal.
