Winner of the Vendée Globe, Charlie Dalin will receive a nice sum for his victory
After his second place in 2021 with a touch of bitterness, Charlie Dalin won the 2024 Vendée Globe by crossing the finish line first in Les Sables d’Olonne, shattering the record set in 2017 by Armel Le Cleach in 64 days, 7 p.m. and 22 minutes. The winner will pocket 200,000 euros for his performance, or a quarter of the financial prize planned for all the skippers who will cross the finish line. FYI, “this money is funded by the skippers themselves, who must pay registration fees which amount to 20,000 euros.
The second on the finish line who should be Yoann Richomme is guaranteed to receive 140,000 euros. For third in the ranking, it’s 100,000 euros. From 4th to 10th, the distribution is 80,000, 50,000, 40,000, 30,000, 25,000, 20,000 and 15,000. For those who finish beyond the top 10, they divide the remaining 100,000 euros of the overall allocation, without being able to exceed the sum allocated to 10th, namely 15,000 euros. Finally, there remains a remainder, which is distributed equally among all the sailors from 4th place onwards.
