Everyone who earns 2000 euros per month can receive 1000

More French people than we think are eligible for a Caf check.

Benefiting from aid from the Family Allowance Fund (Caf) is not allowed for everyone. The principle is simple: the benefits paid by the organization go to the most modest, according to income brackets. Enough to create side effects, sometimes, since for every €1 collected above the ceiling, all the aid disappears.

Often, many French people feel that they are not entitled to one or more help from Caf, because of their income. A check can, however, be received by those who earn €2,000 per month, the median salary in France. You still have to think about requesting it.

Throughout the year, the Caf pays various allowances to cover daily expenses: APL for housing, childcare assistance, back-to-school bonus, family allowances… So many hundreds of euros which allow the most deprived to make ends meet.

Over the course of life, the latter is particularly impacted by the arrival of a child in the couple. Going from two to three, four or more is not without consequences on the bank account. To alleviate the additional financial burden represented by a newborn, Caf pays many parents the birth bonus. This is allocated based on income and many French people may be entitled to it.

Indeed, if each member of the couple earned a maximum of €2,000 net before taxes (line “Net amount before tax” on the pay slip), it is possible to receive this assistance. We have to go back two years for income because, for 2025, it is those of 2023 which are taken into account by Caf.

The resource limit is a little more complex. More precisely, for a couple expecting their first child, they must not have earned more than €48,186 in 2023. To find out if you are on target, you must look at their 2024 tax notice on 2023 income and read the “Net taxable income” line. If this is below the limits set by the Caf (they vary depending on the number of children), then the premium of €1066.30 (amount which will increase on 1er April 2025) may be paid. A significant boost for the middle class.
