Jonna Sundling refuses to have her medals and trophies at home.
She explains her decision in SVT’s sports talk show “Kallprat”.
– I’m not the one who feels the need to be seen and heard that much, I think, she says.
She has won four WC medals in sprint and sprint relay, as well as three Olympic medals at the same distances. Jonna Sundling29, wins medals on an assembly line. Despite the successes, she does not like to show them off.
Sundling’s confession about the medals
In SVT’s “Kallprat” Jonna Sundling is this week’s guest. The host Johan Kücükaslan emphasizes that the sprint star has been extremely successful in recent years, especially in the championships. Since the WC in Oberstdorf 2021, she has won a total of seven championship medals.
– Are the medals hanging at home, right?, he asks her in the program.

She then replies that she has been in the habit of putting her prizes in a box. But since she met her current partner Anton Olofsson the situation has changed somewhat. He thinks that she should dare to show off her medals to the outside world.
– They were in the drawers until my partner put them up. He thought they were still worthy of display. But I’ve never been one to display my trophies as a kid or hang up the medals. Everything has been packed away in boxes. I haven’t felt that I’ve had to show it off, she says.
Commenting on Jonna Sundling’s personality
Johan Kücükaslan wonders why she doesn’t really want people to see and ponder her medals at her home.
– What does it say about you as a person?, he asks
– I don’t know. You say!, replies Jonna.

The SVT profile then points out that Jonna is very calm and confident in herself and has no need to assert herself.
– You still feel… not withdrawn, but considering your merits and what you have achieved, it feels like you take up very little space, he says, to which she replies:
– I’m probably like that. Lying in the reeds and lurking. I’m not the one who feels the need to be seen and heard that much, I think.
Of course you should have your medals and trophies ready, Jonna. They stand for something nice, show off what magnificent feats you manage to achieve on the ski slopes. Dare to have them in front.
