The death at Forsmark was not due to deficiencies in the work environment

The accident occurred in connection with maintenance work on the nuclear reactor in Forsmark 3. The man welded a valve to a large pipe and, according to witnesses, he stuck his head into the pipe to investigate something. As a result of lack of oxygen, it led to cardiac arrest. The man was taken to hospital where he later died.

The Work Environment Agency, which investigated the death, has also taken part in the company’s internal investigation. According to the authority, there are no deficiencies in the work environment work that caused the accident, reports Uppsala New Newspaper.

However, the police’s preliminary investigation continues. The prosecutor must now decide whether to bring charges or drop the case.
