Sven-Göran Eriksson fell asleep with enormous debts of millions

Sven-Göran “Svennis” Eriksson’s life was rich in successes and experiences.
But the legendary football coach left behind large debts.
This is shown in the estate register.

Sven-Göran Eriksson total assets at the time of his death were approximately SEK 66 million, but he also had debts totaling nearly SEK 118 million. This gives a minus of just over SEK 51 million.

Most of the debts are tax debts. This is written, among other things, by Göteborgs-Posten and Expressen.

Svenni’s debts

When he died of cancer on August 26 at the age of 76, “Svennis” Eriksson was praised by the entire football world. In addition to a successful career as a coach, many of his personal qualities were highlighted.
– Most of all, he was a friendly man, said the former English national team star David Beckham.

As a coach in big clubs such as Benfica, Roma, Sampdoria and Lazio and as England’s national team captain, Sven-Göran Eriksson earned a lot of money.

It was also known that for some time he was close to personal bankruptcy after he was defrauded of around SEK 100 million by the financial advisor Samir Khan. Something he spoke openly about in his autobiographies, including in “A Wonderful Journey” which was published after his death.

The financial problems affected his career choices and he took well-paid coaching jobs in Thailand, Saudi Arabia and China.

I had a bad idea

Eriksson revealed a few years ago to Expressen that he had a bad grasp of his finances.
– I have no idea how much money I have and where it is, he said.

In the autobiography “Min historia” from 2014, Sven-Göran Eriksson told:
“Money was never important to me. I was born poor and will probably die poor, but I know I have lived and will live a good life in between.”

Among the assets is the manor Björkefors, on Lake Fryken in Värmland, which was recently put up for sale for SEK 25 million.

We never forget you. Rest in peace, Svennis! 🌹
