Hardly any other thriller author has shaped the German novel landscape as much as Sebastian Fitzek for years. His books have already been sold millions of times and are always guaranteed to be at the top of the local bestseller lists. The novel The way home 2020 was no exception and became one of the most successful representatives of Fitzek’s oeuvre. The notorious woman murderer, called “the calendar killer”, is on Klara’s heels and has given her a deadly ultimatum: either she murders her own husband (Friedrich Mücke) – or death awaits them themselves. Only Jules can help her now. A dangerous game begins.
The original novel The Way Home was complete 11 weeks at number 1 in the German book charts and was able to stay on the German bestseller lists for 81 weeks. Within a few weeks, the novel became the best-selling book of 2020. For Amazon Prime Video, The Way Home is the second adaptation of a novel by Sebastian Fitzek after The Therapy.
Oderbruch director Adolfo Kolmerer directed the novel adaptation based on a script by Susanne Schneider (Bella Block). In addition to Sabin Tambrea (Babylon Berlin), Luise Heyer (The boy needs some fresh air) and Friedrich Mücke (Wunderschön), Rainer Bock (Better Call Saul) and Andreas Döhler (All Quiet in the West) can be seen in Der Heimweg .
