Nintendo is initiating legal proceedings in response to accessory manufacturer Genki’s leaks about Nintendo Switch 2.
During CES 2025, major leaks emerged about Switch 2, which is called Nintendo’s next console. It is claimed that accessory manufacturer Genki is at the center of these leaks. Genki exhibited a model that it claimed was an exact replica of the Switch 2 and shared some information about the release date of the device. However, Nintendo’s lawyers reportedly reached out to Genki during CES and a legal process was initiated.
Tension Between Nintendo and Genki
It is known that Nintendo takes a harsh stance against leaks regarding Switch 2. It is stated that Nintendo lawyers warned the company after Genki claimed to have seen the final version of the Switch 2 and even exhibited an exact prototype of the device at CES 2025. However, Genki claims that it has not signed any non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with Nintendo and therefore they will not have any legal problems.
While Nintendo did not make an official statement regarding these leaks, it told a Japanese newspaper that the model exhibited was “unofficial”. Genki has not yet made a statement on the issue. A lot of information about Switch 2 has been leaked recently. A reliable tech leakster has shared 360-degree renders of the device, claiming that this is the most accurate visual representation of the Switch 2. These leaks aroused great curiosity about the design and technical features of the console.
Nintendo is expected to take further precautions to keep information about its new console secret. The company wants to take control before a big launch and allow users to meet the new device in a surprising way.
