Suspected heroin and opium pods were seized at the Blue Water Bridge near Sarnia on Dec. 30.

The Canada Border Services Agency said in a post that 6.27 kg of suspected opium pods and 30 g of suspected heroin were seized from a commercial carrier at the international crossing.
A person was arrested at the bridge and the sixteen items were transferred to the RCMP, the agency said in an email.
The border agency seized 4,083 kg in narcotics between January and October of last year in the Southern Ontario region, which includes border crossings, airports and train stations in Sarnia, Windsor, London, Fort Erie, Niagara Falls and areas between those communities.
That includes 460 kg of suspected cocaine border services officers at the Blue Water Bridge intercepted in June. A driver was charged by the RCMP, the agency said.

In October, border services officers at the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor seized 615 kg of suspected cocaine found in a shipment of grapes.
The Blue Water Bridge crosses the St. Clair River, connecting Highway 402 at Point Edward to Port Huron, Mich.

Guitars with a value of about $3,500 were reported stolen after a break-in on Short Street Monday in Petrolia.
At about 12:45 am, four people arrived in a dark-colored Dodge Ram pickup truck, entered a home and took seven guitars, Lambton OPP say.
