Diablo 4 doesn’t have an easy time, as many players have been hacking around on the latest part of the ARPG series since its release. A fan now says: It’s not as good as Diablo 2, but it’s a step up from Diablo 3.
For many fans of the series, Diablo 2 is still the favorite, and with Diablo 4, Blizzard wanted to orientate itself more towards parts 2 and 1 in terms of tone. The Druid, who was last playable in Diablo 2, also returned. Runes also made their return with the first expansion, Vessel of Hatred. Vessel of Hatred has brought back an iconic zone from Diablo 2.
What does the fan say specifically? On Reddit, a player comments on the criticism of Diablo 4 and says: The game doesn’t seem to be that bad after all. He says this as an “old Diablo fan” who grew up with Diablo 2. He got back into Season 6 with a friend and is looking forward to Season 7.
In his article he writes specifically: “Am I crazy? There’s constant criticism of this game, but honestly, I don’t think it’s that bad at the moment. It’s not as good as Diablo 2 (what is?), but for me at least it’s a significant improvement over Diablo 3. Am I missing something?”
“Good for 100 hours, but not for 1,000”
This is how the community reacts to it: Many players take up the topic in the comments. They emphasize that Diablo 4 has developed significantly with each new season and now offers a much better gaming experience than when it was released.
The top comment comes from Doomguy231, with over 450 people agreeing with it based on upvotes. He writes that people “just like to complain.” Diablo 4 will never be the best game of all time, but it’s great for just switching off and grinding, he says.
Crazycow88 also sees it similarly and writes: “I’ve been playing since Season 1 and in my opinion it gets better with every season. The story and the expansion were good. When I get bored of the endgame grind, I just play something else. It’s not the best game ever, but it’s definitely not the worst either.”
In the comment, Bierzgal replies to the post creator that Diablo 4 is by no means a bad game, but a “decent one”. However, it lacks that certain something to be “fantastic” – something that you would actually expect from such a legendary series. Diablo 4 is a great game to enjoy for around 100 hours, but not so gripping that you want to invest 1,000 hours, he writes.
What is criticized about Diablo 4? In the post, a user comments that Diablo 4 didn’t get off to a good start. “The loot system was terrible and there was no endgame, which is simply unacceptable for a launch in 2024 after 10 years of Diablo 3 feedback. The campaign was solid, but everything else wasn’t.”
In general, Diablo 4 has received a lot of criticism from the community since its release. The core points are:
