Nearly 340,000 Comorian voters were called to the polls on Sunday January 12 for the first round of the legislative elections. This involves renewing the Parliament of the archipelago which has 33 seats. The Assembly is controlled almost exclusively by the Convention for the Renewal of the Comoros, the ruling party. Five years ago, the opposition boycotted the vote. This year again, most of the opponents decided not to participate in the elections.
