Sweden needs to equip itself more strongly against hybrid activities, the Social Democrats believe.

Party leader Magdalena Andersson wants the Nordic countries to acquire a joint spy plan.

– One way would be to invest in a fourth Global Eye that can strengthen the monitoring of our region – from the southern shores of the Baltic Sea to the North Caloten including Greenland, says the S leader at the People and Defense National Conference in Sälen.

The proposal is put forward against the background of the recent cable breaks, the increased underwater activity and the actions of the Russian shadow fleet in the Baltic Sea.

S believes that efforts in the Baltic Sea area should be increased and coordinated. A joint Global Eye would be an important addition, says Andersson.

– We social democrats believe that the government should immediately start negotiations with the other Nordic countries about this.

The Global Eye is a reconnaissance and command aircraft developed by Saab. It has the ability to monitor in the air, at sea and on land simultaneously, and can, for example, detect and identify objects at long distances.

– When we in the Nordics stick together, then we become stronger. It increases our opportunities to guard our sovereignty and our territorial integrity, says Andersson.
