The district court revealed the identity of exposed children
In the summer of 2023, the personal data of a child who was subjected to a sexual crime was revealed in connection with a judgment being announced.
Now the child and the child’s parents receive damages, writes Sydsvenskan. The Chancellor of Justice has now decided that the state must pay SEK 25,000 in damages to the child and SEK 10,000 each to the guardians.
The child’s name, which was supposed to be confidential, was thus included in the judgment that the district court dealt with on the same day. But the verdict had already reached several journalists.
In addition to the child’s name, the district court failed to remove the guardians’ civil registry address, which was removed after two days.
– There is no lack of routine and there is nothing wrong with the system. They came to the conclusion that it was a single mistake and of course very regrettable, says Johan Sjöö, says Johan Sjöö, lawyer at the Malmö district court to Sydsvenskan.
