(Finance) – In Italy more than 8 people out of 100 live in conditions of energy povertya figure that worsens in the elderly segment of the population and which seems destined to worsen in light of the increase in energy prices. The risk is that geopolitical tensions, in the absence of targeted interventions, lead to new bill increases. That’s why Cgil, Spi, Filctem and Federconsumatori they relaunch the information campaign which saw the four organizations involved as early as 2024. This is what we read in the press release.
The objective is to help towns and citizens find their way in the jungle of prices and tariffs. The campaign has so far reached thousands of people and resumes today also support requests for specific political interventions: among the first to be implemented urgently, the strengthening of measures to combat energy poverty, the decoupling of the final price of electricity from the price of gas and the revision of the register of energy sellers.
“Without prejudice that pensions and wages should be adjusted to the cost of living – declare CGIL, SPI, FilCTEM and Federconsumatori – we ask that the amount of the energy bonus is increasedbroadened the range of beneficiaries and simplified the access process. At the same time, it is necessary to focus on interventions that increase the energy efficiency of homes, thus allowing for cut costs and reduce energy consumption. Finally, it would be appropriate to establish an automatic mechanism which, unlike what has happened so far, triggers entry into the protected market upon reaching the age of seventy-five.”
In light of these considerations – continues the statement – the government’s project on differentiated autonomy is also judged by CGIL, SPI, Filctem and Federconsumatori to be as crazy as it is dangerous. “THE’differentiated autonomy it would force individual Regions to address the issue of energy independently, when instead interventions that look at European policies for families and businesses should be created. For all these reasons – they conclude – we are increasingly motivated to continue our referendum campaign to ask for the cancellation of this law”.
