Guard at the castle slipped – impaled by bayonet

A high guard at the Royal Palace in Stockholm was seriously injured when he slipped and was accidentally impaled by his bayonet.

The incident occurred at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

– After the fall, his comrades acted quickly and correctly. An ambulance quickly arrived at the scene and took him to Karolinska. According to the doctors, the situation was life-threatening on arrival. He underwent surgery and is now in a stable condition.

The police have started a preliminary investigation into work environment violations and causing bodily harm.
