With the dog in one hand and the computer in the other, writer and podcaster Sigge Eklund escaped the flames that drew forth in idyllic Pacific Palisades.
– I didn’t think then that the houses would burn. I imagined that there would be 50 firefighters on site immediately to extinguish, says Sigge Eklund.
After three long days with the family in an evacuation hotel, the family, like many others, has decided to try to find out if their house was destroyed in the fire – or if it might miraculously have survived.
It hasn’t.
– It is impossible to take in. That everything is gone, in just a few hours, says Malin Eklundh
Almost 10,000 buildings have been destroyed in the fires that shook the million-dollar city of Los Angeles. Hundreds of thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes and at least eleven people have died.
