The black boxes of the South Korean crash plane stopped working minutes before the crash | News in brief

The cause of the accident that happened in December is not yet certain.

The black boxes of the Jeju Air plane that crashed in December stopped working minutes before the plane hit an embankment at Muan International Airport, according to South Korea’s Ministry of Transport.

According to the ministry’s announcement on Saturday, the plane’s flight recorder and cockpit voice recorder stopped recording about four minutes before the crash.

According to the authorities, the reason for stopping the recording is being investigated.

The plane, which was returning from Thailand to South Korea, made an emergency landing at Muan International Airport on December 29. After landing, the plane slid towards the concrete structure at the end of the runway and caught fire.

A total of 179 people died in the crash. It is the worst plane crash in the history of South Korea.

The cause of the accident is not yet certain. The investigations have focused, among other things, on the mechanical failure of the plane’s landing gear and on the fact that the runway on which the crashed plane landed ended in a concrete barrier.
