Next week it is finally time for the handball World Cup.
And Sweden is seeking revenge for the early exit from the Olympics.
Now Magnus Wislander gives his verdict on the Swedish team.
Next week it’s time for the handball World Cup again and this time it will be decided in Denmark, Norway and Croatia. The last time there was a WC, it took place on Swedish soil in 2023, and Sweden’s men’s national team has revenge to claim.
Sweden’s revenge
For that time, it was only a fourth place at home after two straight losses when it was time to play for the medals. The most recent championship in the Summer Olympics was also a disappointment when the men’s national team went out already in the quarter-finals.

Next Thursday, Sweden plays its opening match against Japan, and then a new hunt for WC medals begins. Last Thursday, the Swedes played a training match against Iceland, which ended 31-31, and this has caused clear concern for the legend Magnus Wislander.
Wislander’s concern
Now the expert and icon gives his verdict on the Swedish national team ahead of the WC.
– What was most positive in the match: The speed and desire to play handball that the boys have. Very good counter play and very good with quick returns, says Wislander who is an expert at Radiosporten.

But then he directs criticism at Sweden as well and points out the most negative from the genre.
– The attacking play set up. You didn’t really get into situations and no passes to the line where it was clean. They didn’t quite get it right in the interplay and don’t really score easy goals in the set up attack game, says “Slangen”.
– There were a lot of problems with the fast Icelandic attacking game, their breakthrough, they got the ball through to free players on the line and then it will not be an easy task.
Sweden meets Japan, Chile and Spain in the group stage and the top three teams then advance to the main round.
