Like every year in January, Xiaomi reviews its iconic Redmi Note range. On the program for generation 14, autonomy, a longer follow-up of updates and AI, all always at competitive prices.

In the very (too) large family of Xiaomi smartphones, the Redmi Note occupy a pivotal place. They are located between the Redmi, entry-level models, and the Xiaomi X (the X referring to the generation) which represent the high-end. The Redmi Note is therefore responsible for seducing the demanding user to bring them into the world of Xiaomi without spending a fortune. And to achieve this, the brand is launching, like last year, five new representatives for the Redmi Note range. Surprise, while we assumed the 4G versions were stored in the souvenir section, two models remain in the catalog. The new family thus consists of the Redmi Note 14 available in 4G and 5G version, Redmi Note 14 Pro, also in 4G and 5G and the Redmi Note 14 Pro+, only 5G. And if the technical sheet between each model differs, they all share the same thing in common. Xiaomi pushes the monitoring of system updates to 4 years (enough to run Android 19) and 6 years for security patches. A serious step forward for this range of competitively priced products which suggest good longevity.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 14: a very good first price

Xiaomi is renewing its tradition of giving a lot for not very expensive. Thus, the most accessible model is based on a MediaTek Helio G99-Ultra SoC. The same one that equipped the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G last year. It is supported by 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage space. Its battery, on the other hand, rises to 5500 mAh which promises good autonomy. Recharging for its part caps at 33W. On the photo side, we can count on a 108 Mpx wide-angle and a 2 Mpx macro sensor. The screen is made up of a 6.67-inch Amoled panel refreshed at 120 Hz and which hides a fingerprint reader (previously housed on the power button).

Surprisingly, some AI functions are also included. Google’s Gemini Assistant but also in-house tools like AI Erase (magic eraser), AI Sky (to generate a different style of sky) and AI Beautify (to improve portraits). But it is above all its price which is attractive since it is marketed from 199 euros. Add 100 euros for the 5G version with a less generous battery (5110 mAh) but faster charging (45W), an ultra wide-angle module and IP64 waterproofing.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro: the good compromise

Also available in 4G and 5G versions, the Redmi Note 14 Pro represents a priori the best value for money in the range. The design differs slightly from the first model with a centered photo island. The wide-angle here goes to 200 Mpx, the battery remains at 5500 mAh for the 4G version and 5110 mAh for 5G and charging at 45W for both. Google’s AI Surround to Search feature comes on board the 5G model as the IP68 rating. In terms of price, the Redmi Note pro 4G starts at 349 euros (8-256 GB). The 5G version starts at 399 euros (8-256 GB).

That leaves the Redmi Note Pro+ 5G, the most expensive of the bunch. For a price starting at 469 euros (for the 8-256 GB version), we benefit here from a more powerful SoC, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 from Qualcomm with a 5110 mAh battery but with 120W charging and generative AI functions for text.

The new Redmi Note 14s will be available from January 15. Xiaomi offers a bonus of up to 70 euros for the trade-in of an old smartphone. Note that for the purchase of the most expensive version of the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G (12-512 GB priced at 499 euros) on the website Xiaomithe new Redmi Buds 6 headphones are offered.
